For those of you that love Boston Market’s Sweet Potato Casserole, we have a treat for you! Mama has a recipe to share with you that may just trump the Boston Market version!

  • 6 cups mashed sweet potatoes (5-6 potatoes — see Step 1)
  • 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 2 cups of chopped pecans

  1. To make the sweet potatoes, place them on a baking sheet and pop them into a preheated 400 degrees F oven for about 60 minutes, or until they are tender. The peel should fall right off!  When they are cool enough to handle, scrape out the insides and use electric mixer to mix them until they are mashed and smooth. Measure out 6 cups of the mixture and add to a large bowl.
  2. Add the brown sugar, heavy cream, melted butter, cinnamon, and salt into the sweet potentate and mix well with beater.  Pour this mixture into an 8 x 8 inch baking dish that has been sprayed with a non stick spray.
  3. Preheat over to 350 degrees F.
  4. Cover the mixture with marshmallows
  5. Sprinkle pecans over the marshmallows
  6. Bake at 350 uncovered for 35 minutes!
